RPower gains after achieving boiler lightup for fifth unit of Sasan UMPP

Reliance Power rose 2.48% to Rs 95.20 at 15:21 IST on BSE after the company said that boiler light up has been achieved for its fifth 660 MW unit at the 3,960 MW Sasan ultra mega power project.

The announcement was made during market hours today, 15 July 2014.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 234.46 points or 0.94% at 25,241.44.

On BSE, so far 19.68 lakh shares were traded in the counter as against average daily volume of 26.55 lakh shares in the past one quarter.

The stock hit a high of Rs 95.40 and a low of Rs 92.55 so far during the day. The stock hit a 52-week high of Rs 113.20 on 11 June 2014. The stock hit a 52-week low of Rs 60.10 on 4 February 2014.

The stock had underperformed the market over the past one month till 14 July 2014, sliding 8.83% compared with Sensex's 0.88% fall. The scrip had, however, outperformed the market in past one quarter, jumping 24.03% as against Sensex's 10.51% rise.

The large-cap company has equity capital of Rs 2805.13 crore. Face value per share is Rs 10.

Reliance Power (RPower) said that achieving of boiler lightup for fifth 660 megawatts (MW) unit of Sasan ultra mega power project (UMPP) is a critical milestone of the boiler commissioning activities for the unit.

First four 660 MW units of the project are already operating well, fifth unit boiler lighted up and the last unit is in advanced stages of construction, RPower said in a statement.

The Sasan UMPP is the largest integrated power plant and coal mining project in the world. Coal production has already commenced from the 20 million tonnes Moher and Moher- Amlohri coal mines associated with the power project.

RPower's consolidated net profit rose 1.1% to Rs 268.88 crore on 3.9% growth in net sales to Rs 1296.10 crore in Q4 March 2014 over Q4 March 2013.
