Sugar stocks jump on hopes short supply to perk up prices

Shares of nine sugar companies rose 1.38% to 16.49% at 14:40 IST on BSE as a shortage in sugar supplies globally is expected to aid domestic sugar prices and help clock modest increase in realisations.

Meanwhile, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 130.97 points or 0.51% at 25,891.07.

Among sugar stocks, Bajaj Hindusthan (up 1.38%), Balrampur Chini Mills (up 2.03%), Shree Renuka Sugars (up 16.49%), EID Parry (up 9.72%), Sakthi Sugar (up 4.49%), Rana Sugars (up 3.31%), Simbhaoli Sugar (up 9.9%), Triveni Engineering & Industries (up 6.29%) and Dwarikesh Sugar (up 4.96%) gained.
