Telecom shares slide

Telecom stocks were trading with losses, with the S&P BSE Telecom index falling 12.93 points or 1.05% at 1216.64 at 13:48 IST.

Among the components of the S&P BSE Telecom index, ITI Ltd (down 2.21%), Bharti Airtel Ltd (down 1.54%), HFCL Ltd (down 0.58%), and Sterlite Technologies Ltd (down 0.45%), were the top losers.

On the other hand, Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (up 4.92%), OnMobile Global Ltd (up 2.34%), and Vodafone Idea Ltd (up 1.86%) moved up.

At 13:48 IST, the S&P BSE Sensex was up 211.71 or 0.51% at 41598.11.

The Nifty 50 index was up 68.65 points or 0.56% at 12249.

The S&P BSE Small-Cap index was up 84.93 points or 0.57% at 14857.25.

The S&P BSE 150 Midcap Index index was up 38.37 points or 0.76% at 5102.46.

On BSE,1394 shares were trading in green, 965 were trading in red and 159 were unchanged.
