The domestic demand for the long steel products is estimated as 54.3 MT by the year 2016-17

The production of iron ore in the country has been above the domestic requirements during the last three years. As per the report of the Working Group on Steel Industry for the 12th Five Year Plan, the iron ore requirement for the year 2013-14 is 149.43 MT. Also the domestic demand for the long steel products is estimated as 54.3 MT by the year 2016-17.
