Volumes jump at Thermax counter

Kajaria Ceramics, Sun TV Network, Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services and Wipro are among the other stocks to see a surge in volumes on BSE today, 22 April 2013.

Thermax clocked volume of 2.15 lakh shares by 13:11 IST on BSE, a 144.71-times surge over two-week average daily volume of 1,000 shares. The stock fell 0.31% to Rs 577.95.

Kajaria Ceramics notched up volume of 2.81 lakh shares, a 72.28-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 4,000 shares. The stock rose 2.04% to Rs 185.

Sun TV Network saw volume of 9.09 lakh shares, a 3.67-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 2.48 lakh shares. The stock jumped 5.20% to Rs 411.55.

Mahindra & Mahindra Financial Services clocked volume of 3.23 lakh shares, a 2.99-fold surge over two-week average daily volume of 1.08 lakh shares. The stock rose 2.81% to Rs 207.

Wipro saw volume of 8.54 lakh shares, a 2.67-fold rise over two-week average daily volume of 3.20 lakh shares. The stock tumbled 8.15% to Rs 338.60 after the company said at the time of announcing Q4 results that it expects revenue from IT services business to remain flat on sequential basis in Q1 June 2013. Wipro expects a between 0.63% fall to a growth of 1.57% in revenue from IT services business at between $1.575 billion to $1.61 billion in Q1 June 2013 over Q4 March 2013. At a post-result conference call, Wipro's management indicated that Q1 for Wipro will be the traditionally weak quarter on account of softness from the India business. The management expects Q2 September 2013 to be better than Q1 June 2013 for the company.

Wipro's IT services revenue rose 0.5% to $1.585 billion in Q4 March 2013 over Q3 December 2012. On year on year basis, IT services revenue rose 3.2% to $1.585 billion in Q4 March 2013 over Q4 March 2012. Wipro announced the fourth quarter results on Friday, 19 April 2013, when the stock market was closed on account of Ram Navmi.
