A rampaging herd of elephants trampled a person to death in Jharkhand's Jamtara district on Wednesday.
According to police, a herd of 22 elephants entered Tiloki village and trampled to death 50-year-old Jeetu Rana. They also damaged six houses.
Jeetu was among the villagers who had gathered to drive away the elephants. But the angry animals caught Jeetu and trampled him to death. The villagers later succeeded in driving them away.
Elephants have killed more than 1,000 people in the last 15 years in Jharkhand.
