At least 10 people were killed and 22 seriously injured when a bus overturned after ramming into a tree in Chhattisgarh on Monday, police said.
The accident occurred in the afternoon in Mahasamund district on the Kolkata-Mumbai National Highway No.53 between Jhalap and Pateva.
Chief Minister Raman Singh expressed his condolences to the victims' families and directing the district administration to ensure the best treatment for the injured.
The bus, heading toward Raipur from Pithora, hit a tree while attempting to avoid hitting a vehicle coming from the opposite direction, police said.
