Ten people were killed on Friday in Tamil Nadu's Tirunelvelli district and several others injured when the bus in which they were travelling toppled after the driver lost control and hit the road divider, said police.
The dead include five men, three women and two children.
According to police, the bus was moving at good speed when the driver lost control and hit the road divider resulting in the vehicle falling on one side and getting dragged for some distance due to the momentum.
The bus was going to Thiruvananthapuram from Karaikal in Puducherry.
Rescue teams used cranes to lift the bus so that other passengers could be rescued.
The injured passengers were admitted in a government hospital in Nagercoil.
Tirunelvelli is around 650 km from here.
