At least 10 persons were killed and several others wounded in a suicide blast in Kabul on Saturday.
"The explosion occurred at the middle of the crowd in Dehmazang Square. Our initial reports showed 10 persons were killed and more than 20 others wounded," a police officer told Xinhua news agency near the site.
Local TV channels showed several bodies and wounded people lying on the road near the main traffic circle on a four-lane road which leads to the country's parliament.
The incident took place in Deh Mazang area where thousands of demonstrators gathered in a sit-in protest when a suicide bomber targeted the participants, Khaama Press reported.
Several persons have suffered injuries and the demonstrators have started leaving the area as the victims are being taken to hospitals for treatment.
No one has so far claimed responsibility for the attack.
