The national capital on Thursday witnessed 106 fire related incidents, with one casualty, a fire service official said.
The official said of the 106 incidents, 104 were minor.
In the first incident, fire engulfed the servant room of a house in the Civil Lines area around 12.44 a.m. Nandan Singh, 63, died in the incident.
It took around three hours for fire fighters to douse the blaze, he said.
In another incident, five shanties were gutted in Madanpur Khadar area. The fire broke out around 12.50 a.m.
The official said nobody sustained injuries in the incident and around 15 fire tenders managed to douse the blaze by 4 a.m.
"A total of 106 fire incidents were reported on Thursday between 12.44 a.m. and 7.10 p.m. in Delhi. Only two fire incidents were medium while others were minor," he said.
"Except of one death, not a single person sustained injuries," the official added.
Chief Fire Service Officer A.K. Sharma told IANS: "With the temperature rising, the number of fire incidents will increase. It's not very abnormal phenomena."
Sharma, however, added that the number of fire incidents reported on Thursday were the season's highest.
