Militants have abducted 11 de-miners from Afghanistan's Ghazni province, an official said Sunday.

"A group of de-miners was on its way from Kandahar to Kabul city when armed militants stopped their bus on a highway in Ghazni province and took them to an unknown location Saturday night," the official told Xinhua.

Search operations has been launched to locate them and secure their safe release, the official added.

In January, the Taliban abducted 60 de-miners from Herat province.

Last month, the militants killed six de-miners who were working in Herat.
