At least 15 civilians were killed on Thursday in US-led airstrikes in Syria's northeastern province of al-Hasakah, a monitor group reported.
The airstrikes targeted areas controlled by the Islamic State group in al-Hasakah, according to the London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, which says it relies on activists on the ground inside Syria, Xinhua reported.
The air raids apparently came in support of the Kurdish-backed Syria Democratic Forces, which is approaching the IS-held city of Shaddadi in the countryside of al-Hasakah.
The US-led coalition started its operations specifically against the IS group in Syria over a year ago.
Syrian officials have repeatedly questioned the intention and seriousness of the US coalition in the war on terror.
