At least 21 Taliban militants were killed and 12 others were injured in operations carried out by Afghanistan security forces over the last 24 hours, the defence ministry said on Tuesday.
The operations were conducted in Kandahar, Helmand, Kapisa and Ghazni provinces, Xinhua news agency cited the ministry statement as saying.
The security forces seized weapons and defused several roadside bombs planted by the militants.
A total of six army personnel were also killed in the 24-hour period, the statement said.
"During the raids, the troops also detained four armed insurgents," the ministry said.
The Taliban militant group has yet to make comments.
Afghan security forces have pressed on clearing the militants in restive provinces as Taliban militants have been attempting to take more territory in the South Asian country.
