Gold bars, weighing three kg, being smuggled into India were seized in two separate cases at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport and four people arrested, police said.
In the first case, Sanjay Kumar was stopped by airport security staff members during frisking Wednesday. He was taken to Safdarjung hospital, where six rectangular gold bars were to found in his lower abdomen. The bar weighed 1 kg.
Police said he had come from Bangkok by flight number TG-315.
In another incident, Dilare Singh and Jitender Singh were stopped after two kg of gold bars was found concealed in two LED televisions in their baggage. They also came from Bangkok by flight number AI-333.
Pramod Saini whom they had to deliver the consignment was also arrested from outside the airport, police added.
