Another carcass of a whale - the fourth so far this month - was washed ashore in Odisha's Puri district on Tuesday, a forest department official said.

The decomposed carcass was about 38 feet long, said Puri Divisional Forest Officer Chittaranjan Nayak.

"The whale seems to have died in deep sea several days back and washed ashore at the Managala river mouth. We will bury the body of the whale after conducting a post-mortem to ascertain its cause of death," he said.

Recently three bodies of whales were found near the coast in Odisha's Ganjam and Kendrapara and Puri.

While a carcass of whale was sighted from the coast in Brahmagiri area of Puri on February 9, a carcass of a whale measuring 33 feet long was found at Podampetta coast in Ganjam district on February 3 and another whale measuring 66 feet in length was found at Chinchiri mouth at Rajnagar in Kendrapara district on February 5.
