At least six persons were killed on Thursday in bombings across Syria after a truce was struck between Russia and Turkey effective from midnight, according to a war monitoring group.

An attack carried out by government forces in the southern city of Daraa killed five people, including a child and two women, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said.

The SOHR recorded another bombardment in the Damascus suburb of Zamalka, which killed one person and injured 10 others, mostly women and children, Efe news reported.

No casualties were reported following attacks conducted by government forces on the town of Kafr Hamrah in the northern province of Aleppo.

Meanwhile, rebel forces launched attacks on government-controlled areas of Aleppo, the SOHR said.

An explosion in Damascus was caused by a projectile falling in the Al-Mazraa district, where the Russian embassy is located, according to sources consulted by the SOHR.

Turkey, which is backing the Syrian opposition, and Russia, the main ally of President Bashar al-Assad's regime, announced on Wednesday a truce agreement spanning the whole country.

The ceasefire was due to come into effect at midnight local time the same day.
