7.1 magnitude quake jolts Pakistan

An earthquake measuring 7.1 on the Richter Scale jolted parts of Pakistan on Sunday, the media reported.

The quake struck at a depth of 236 km with epicentre determined in Afghanistan's Hindu Kush region, Dawn online quoted Pakistan Meteorological Department as saying.

Tremors were felt in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Swat Valley, Chitral, and Pakistan-admiistered Kashmir. No casualties has been reported yet.

Tremors were also felt in parts of Afghanistan, and in New Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan and Kashmir in India.

Fear and panic spread among residents who rushed out of their houses.
