Eight persons were killed and over three dozen injured in a road accident on the Yamuna Expressway here in Uttar Pradesh on Friday when a bus rammed into a truck from the rear, police said.
The incident happened at around 5 a.m. at Rabupura in Gautam Buddh Nagar district.
The injured have been pulled out of the badly damaged bus and rushed to nearby medical facilities, an official told IANS.
Condition of more than a dozen passengers is said to be critical.
Prima facie, the police said, the bus driver may not have seen the truck in the dark and hit it from the rear.
The impact of the collision was such that the front part of the bus caved in, shattered and mangled into a steel mesh.
Villagers from nearby informed the police and also helped in the rescue.
