AAP announces first 19 candidates in Punjab

The AAP on Thursday announced its first list of 19 candidates for Punjab's upcoming assembly elections, among the prominent faces being noted lawyer H.S. Phoolka.

Phoolka will contest from Dakha constituency in Ludhiana district while fellow lawyer Himmat Singh Shergill will be a candidate from SAS Nagar Mohali, the Aam Aadmi Party said.

Among the other candidates in the list are Sajjan Singh Cheema (Sultanpur Lodhi), Jagdeep Singh Brar (Sri Muktsar Sahib), Rupinder Kaur (Bathinda Rural) and Harjot Singh Bains (Sahnewal).

The AAP has emerged as a key player in the Punjab assembly elections that are expected to be held early next year.
