AAP confident of winning in Delhi

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal Saturday said his party will form the next government in Delhi and vowed to pass the Janlokpal Bill after the assembly poll win. Another leader said Kejriwal was their chief ministerial face.

"The AAP will form the government in Delhi," Kejriwal told the media here, a day after the Election Commission announced the schedule for the Dec 4 poll in Delhi.

He said the BJP and the Congress had failed in the state and that was the reason why the public would vote for the AAP. "Our focus is to get rid of corruption," he said.

"If you mock the public, the public can throw you out of power," he said.

Kejriwal's party colleague Yogendra Yadav, who was also present at the party press conference, said: "After a long time, Delhi has a candidate it can trust. We have always projected Arvind Kejriwal as our chief minister...face."

Kejriwal said once the AAP forms a government, a special assembly session would be convened at the Ramlila Maidan -- where Anna Hazare was on fast for 12 days in 2011 -- and the Janlokpal bill would be passed.

"On Dec 29, the people of Delhi will witness the assembly, and we will pass the Janlokpal (bill) in a special assembly session at Ramlila Maidan," Kejriwal told reporters.

Kejriwal said they were in touch with Anna Hazare but the anti-corruption movement leader had made it clear that he would not campaign for the AAP.

"I am in touch with Anna Hazare. He has made it clear that he does not want to campaign for the AAP and I respect his decision," Kejriwal said.

After the press conference, Kejriwal tweeted: "AAP will form govt by 15 Dec. On 29 Dec, spl session of Assembly will be called in Ramlila Maidan & Lokpal will be passed."

"It wud be called Delhi Janlokpal Bill," he wrote on Twitter.

Assembly elections will be held in the national capital Dec 4 with over 11.5 million voters eligible to cast their ballots in 70 constituencies.
