After making its stupendous political debut in the Delhi assembly polls, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) will now test the waters in the Bengal capital, taking out its maiden rally Sunday.

Entitled "Chetna Yatra", the two-km walk from College Square to Esplanade is expected to witness participation of mostly youngsters who want a "break from corruption affecting the mainstream parties in West Bengal".

"The system is rotten, and we are a part of it. But now time has come for the young generation to stand out and be counted. It's time to sweep the rot away and inject some clean fervour into Indian politics," says AAP volunteer Manish Keshari.

Using social networking mediums and SMSs, the volunteers have been reaching out to hundreds of people mostly the young generation seeking their participation in the rally.

Known as a city of processions and rallies, the Sunday march though will be different as the participants would neither carry party flags nor cut-outs of their leaders, but it would rather be a somber match aimed at "generating awareness among the people against the system"

Although, party bigwigs like Arvind Kejriwal would not be present at Sunday's march, the city volunteers are hopeful of bringing their top leaders early next year with an eye on the next Lok Sabha polls.
