The Election Commission Thursday wrote to the News Broadcasters Association (NBA) to take appropriate action against Zee News for allegedly broadcasting "misleading, false and misleading news" against parliamentarian Naveen Jindal.
Election Commission director Dhirendra Ojha wrote a letter to the NBA acting on a March 18 complaint by Jindal "highlighting violation of the Election Commission's order vide 15.4.2004 by Zee News Ltd".
Jindal, a Congress MP and chairman of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd, Tuesday filed a complaint against Zee News to the commission, alleging violation of the model code of conduct by the channel by broadcasting "false, manipulated and misleading news items" about him.
Jindal is re-contesting from Kurukshetra constituency of Haryana.
