Adidas joins hands with RFYS for football competition

German sportswear giant adidas on Monday signed a multi-year deal with the Reliance Foundation Youth Sports School & College (RFYS) football competitions, starting from August 27.

The competition, which will be held across four categories -- junior, senior, college boys and senior girls -- will be played in eight cities across Guwahati, Kochi, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune and Goa, featuring over 2,000 teams and 40,000 promising players.

Speaking on the programme, Damyant Singh, Senior Marketing Director of adidas India, said in a release: "India's love for the sport of football has grown tremendously over the last decade. A crucial link that was missing was the existence of a unified School and College competition that would give young athletes the opportunity to showcase and test their skills against the best in India."

"RFYS will fundamentally change the way the next generation of Indians coach, train and compete. Grassroots is the bedrock on which sporting success is built and Adidas is very proud to play its part in supporting the RFYS," he added.
