An Afghan national travelling from Delhi to Dubai was taken into custody by the Customs officials at the Kochi airport on Wednesday after it was found that he was carrying foreign currencies worth Rs 10 crore.
The currencies that were seized included, Saudi Arabian riyals besides US dollars, which was hidden in pressure cookers and stoves.
The Afghan national was taken into custody after his baggage was checked when he was trying to board a Dubai-bound flight on early Wednesday morning.
Customs officials have started to interrogate him on the source of the currencies and the reason for him to take it to Dubai.
