Akhilesh, Goyal pledge to improve UP power scenario

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and union power Minister Piyush Goyal on Tuesday pledged to work together into bring the power situation in the state back on track.

Addressing a joint press conference, Goyal, who said that the NDA government was committed to provide more power to farmers, told reporters that in the coming days, feeders separation would be undertaken under the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna to provide more power supply to the rural areas.

He also assured that the power supply system would be strengthened under the integrated power development scheme.

At a joint press conference, Goyal told reporters that all the 84 ghats in Varanasi would be illuminated by LED lights.

Praising the Samajwadi Party (SP) government in the state for undertaking serious and consistent power reforms, he assured the chief minister that all proposals mooted by the state government would be considered by his ministry with an open mind.
