Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday inaugurated a mega call centre, which will take feedback directly from the people on various schemes launched by the Samajawadi Party (SP)-led government.

Addressing a gathering in the state capital after inaugurating the 300-seater mega call centre, Yadav said his government believed in transparency and empowering people through technology.

"We want honest feedback from the people about various schemes that we have launched, and based on that we will initiate changes and course correction, if required," he added.

The mega call centre will work for the Chief Minister's Office (CMO). Through the call centre, beneficiaries would be spoken to directly and their experience shared, and based on the feedback, the schemes would be made more effective, Yadav said.

The call centre has been set up by the Uttar Pradesh IT & Electronics Department, and in the initial phase, independent feedback of 13 departments and the 20 schemes rolled out by them would be called.

Yadav also took pot-shots at the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and said that both parties had lost on the development agenda.

"The people know that the previous government only erected statues and made stone parks where elephants neither stand nor sit," he said in a lighter vein.

The 43-year-old Chief Minister also criticised the BJP, saying that it made a fool of the people by making false promises.

"They spread canards that the free laptops that we gave to meritorious students would conk out soon. But even after four years, they are working fine," Yadav said, adding that the BJP had done nothing to ring in their promise of "acche din" (good days).
