Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, at a high level meeting on Tuesday took stock of the developments arising out of the transportation of stones and rocks for the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

According to sources, the chief minister told officials that law and order, peace and communal harmony should not be allowed to be disturbed.

He also directed police and district officials to step up vigil, expressing fear that some mischief makers could use the sensitive issue of the Ram temple to foment trouble in some parts of the state.

At the meeting, attended by chief secretary Alok Ranjan, director general of police Jagmohan Yadav and other police, home department and intelligence officials, it was also decided that district officials be given absolute powers to book anti-social elements.

Yadav said full execution and implementation of the orders of the courts with regard to the Sri Ram Janambhoomi-Babri Mosque premises would be ensured.

He also said no one would be allowed to disturb law and order in the state as this matter is sub-judice before the Supreme Court and status quo has to be maintained.
