Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Monday wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi demanding his intervention and review of the UPSC Civil Service Aptitude Test (CSAT) question format.
The chief minister has called for a review of the question format as it hurts the prospects of the students belonging from the Hindi-speaking regions and those speaking regional languages.
The letter said many students from Uttar Pradesh appear in the examination and will face problems with the CSAT format.
A software translates the English questions into Hindi and other regional languages under the format. This leads to many anomalies in the questions and creates confusion and ambiguity for the examinees, he said.
Protest against the Union Public Service Commission CSAT started in many parts of the country last month and gained momentum the last week.
Students protested against the format in New Delhi, Lucknow, Kanpur and Allahabad.
