Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Monday greeted mega star Amitabh Bachchan and other personalities having links with Uttar Pradesh who were named for the prestigious Padma awards on R-Day 2015.
Stating that all of these eminent personalities, through their work in different fields, have brought laurels to Uttar Pradesh, the chief minister said it was a great honour that the work of these eminent people was being rewarded.
As many as eight personalities having roots in the state have been named for the Padma awards.
These include Amitabh Bachchan, Jagadguru Ramanandcharya Swami Ram Bhadracharya (Padma Vibhushan), Swami Satyamitranand Giri (Padma Bhushan), and Bimla Poddar, Prof J.S. Rajput, Anu Sharma, mountaineer Arunima Sinha and singer, lyricist Ravindra Jain (Padma Shri).
