Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar, who stars in "Airlift" -- a film on Kuwait-based Indians' evacuation in 1990 invasion of Kuwait by Iraq -- says he was honoured to meet former army chief Vijay Kumar Singh who played a key role in the evacuation of Indians from Yemen last year.
Akshay, who is currently on a multi-city tour to promote his forthcoming film, tweeted a photograph of himself shaking hands with Singh, now the Minister of State for External Affairs.
"Honoured to meet Gen. Vijay Kumar Singh, the key man behind rescue mission Operation Raahat during the Yemen Crisis," posted the "Rowdy Rathore" star, whose "Airlift" releases on Friday.
V.K. Singh, who is also minister of state for extenal affairs, is known for leading Operation Raahat, a rescue mission to evacuate Indian citizens and other foreign nationals from Yemen during 2015 Yemeni crisis.
