After Ranjit Bajaj, owner of Minerva Punjab FC, gave an assurance to East Bengal fans that his team would play its heart out to snatch points from Chennai City FC in the March 9 match at Coimbatore, one of his players has said the match would be competitive.
Al Amna, the Syrian mid-fielder, who had been with East Bengal but left owing to an injury and joined Minerva Punjab feels that God has given an opportunity to help his old club win the title.
"I have played there a season and a half and I left because of injury. There is love and mutual respect with the fans. In my professional career I played for many clubs but East Bengal remains one of my favourite clubs and I hope to achieve a good result in this game," he told the media.
Al Amna feels that both Chennai City FC and East Bengal have an equal chance of winning. "I still love Kolkata, my fans. I have lots of good memories of Kolkata. I miss all these," he said.
East Bengal are a point behind leaders Chennai City FC. For it to become I-League champions, first, Minerva Punjab must beat or draw against Chennai City FC, and second, East Bengal must win their last match against Gokulam Kerala FC.
