Health experts on Wednesday urged the people, especially the youngsters, to use Alma-Q laser treatment for various types of tattoo removal surgeries as they were far safer and helped in prevention of several types of skin diseases.

According to the doctors, Alma-Q is the safest and most precise laser treatment solution for pigmented lesions and multi-color tattoo removal. The procedure of the treatment is fster and has greater penetration depth achieving excellent clinical outcomes.

This laser procedure is the most effective way to remove unwanted brown spot, sun freckles or tattoos from your skin, while minimising the risk of damaging surrounding tissues.

"The laser energy, which is in short nanosecond pulses, releases the pigments into skin so it can be naturally reabsorbed and disposed of by the body. It is also effective against sun spots on the chest, arms or legs," said Mohan Thomas, chief cosmetic laser surgeon at city based Cosmetic Surgery Institute.

According to medical surveys, every year around 10-15,000 people suffer from various kinds of health hazards after undergoing tattoo removal surgeries. The skin issues include skin allergies, blood borne diseases and also skin infections.

Explaining the procedure, Thomas said, "The treatment laser energy is delivered to the target (tattoo) area in a series of short pulses. The dark cells containing the most pigments more efficiently absorb this energy and the energy causes the pigments to break down. These laser treatments can also reduce redness while improving skin texture."

Soumen Dutta, Managing Director, Alma Medical India and SAARC Operations, said successful multi and bright colored tattoo removal requires a high powered laser that can deliver enough energy within the absorption spectrum of a wide range of colors.

High powered Alma-Q laser is ideal for treating darker and brighter tattoos. The treatment mechanically breaks down ink particles without causing thermal damage and minimizing risk of scarring or hypopigmentation.

The number of sessions and time lag may last from a couple of weeks to months depending on the indication for which the treatment is sought. For example a skin rejuvenation might take a couple of weeks while tattoo removal might take a couple of months.
