Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah on Saturday advised party leaders and ministers in Jammu and Kashmir to reach out to people, especially in the Valley, in order to address issues in the wake of the prolonged unrest in the region.

Shah also said there was no conflict of interest between the Valley and Jammu.

Beginning his two-day visit to state, Shah first held a meeting with district presidents of the party where the poll strategy for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections was discussed.

Shah later had a meeting with the BJP core group that included senior leaders Jitendra Singh, BJP national general secretary Ram Madhav, Avinash Rai Khanna, Ashok Ambardar, Ashok Koul and BJP state ministers and spokespersons.

BJP top sources told IANS that the party president asked senior party leaders and ministers to come out of their offices and create a public outreach, especially in the Valley.

"There is no conflict of interest between Jammu and the Valley. These are all our own people.

"We have to reach out to them to know their problems so that these are addressed on top priority," Shah told the meeting.

Shah on Saturday started his country-wide visit beginning from Jammu and Kashmir to ensure that the party gets a landslide victory in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
