The Coconut Development Board (CDB) has developed a new product -- tender coconut beverage or Coconut lassi, in association with Central Food Technological Research Institute (CFTRI), Mysore.
The Kochi-headquartered CDB on Tuesday said the lassi is prepared by mixing tender coconut endosperm with tender coconut water along with permissible additives and sweeteners followed by thermal treatment.
"The product has a shelf life of six months at ambient temperature and is a refreshing drink retaining all the natural flavour and nutrients of tender coconut water," the CDB said in a statement.
"It is the most ideal drink to quench one's thirst during summer season," the statement said.
The CDB has already brought out several products from coconut like biscuits, milk and water.
