Angry mob beats robber to death in Aligarh

An angry mob beat a robber to death after a gang robbed a house in Uttar Pradesh's Aligarh town and was decamping with cash and jewellery, police said.

Half-a-dozen robbers attacked a farmer's house in Sukhrawli village on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday.

They gagged the family and held them hostage while looting valuables. The family members somehow raised an alarm and neighbours came to their rescue.

As the robbers tried to escape, the mob intercepted one of them and beat him to death.

Another robber was injured. However, the gang escaped, taking him along, an officer told IANS.

The dead robber has not been identified. His body has been sent for post-mortem.
