The action-packed trailer of '24: Season 2' starring actor-producer Anil Kapoor was unveiled here on Wednesday in the presence of his star daughter Sonam Kapoor and superstar Aamir Khan.

Anil is all set to return as Anti-Terrorism Squad agent Jai Singh Rathore in the espionage thriller, which will be aired on Colors from July 17 onwards.

Dressed in a black-and-white formal wear, which matched with his daughter's outfit, Anil said: "It took us a while to get the second season of the show. I work in films also. So, it's tough for me. I had to complete 'Dil Dhadakne Do' and 'Welcome Back'. We needed a lot of preparation as well."

"Writing takes time. Hopefully, the gap won't be so much next time."

The first season of "24", the Indian adaptation of the popular American TV show, was launched in India in 2013.

So, is the third season already on mind of the makers?

"We would like to see the second season's response first," Colors CEO Raj Nayak told IANS.

While that is yet to be decided, the second season promises to keep the audience hooked to it.

The trailer shows how Anil's character Rathore is haunted by his past. The agent, who had earlier put terrorist Roshan Sherchan in prison, is now on a mission to save Mumbai from the threat of a virus.

Talking about the stunts in the show, Anil said: "My body is all bruised. I had to go to a physiotherapist as well. In fact, some of the stuntsmen also got injured, but everyone is fit to work relentlessly."

His friend Aamir is also looking forward to the show.

"The show has been praised by so many people. I'm sure the second season will go beyond that. I like the energy of Anil. It is unique. He also has childlike curiosity. I love that about him," he said.

After watching the trailer, Aamir looked amazed and compared the TV show to a film.

"It's like watching a movie. It's wonderful to see this quality of work happening on television," he shared.

Asked if Aamir would play a role in the upcoming show, Anil said: "I would love him to be part of the show. I know even if we approach him for it, he won't say no. But the show isn't star-driven. Be it Shabana Azmi or Anupam Kher, we all played characters."

Anil also added that Aamir inspires him. Like Aamir, Anil also completely focused on his TV show.

"When Aamir did 'Satyamev Jayate', he didn't take up any other project. I also haven't done anything else for last one year. I completely focussed on '24'. I got an exciting international project. I was expected to shoot in July, but I had to pass that offer," said the actor, who has featured in Hollywood projects including "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol".

"It's not about money. We are doing it because we love '24'," he added.

"24: Season 2" also stars Sakshi Tanwar, Surveen Chawla, Ashish Vidyarthi, Sikander, Harsh Chhaya, Neil Bhoopalam, Sapna Pabbi and Sudhanshu Pandey.
