Yet another fake doctor has been arrested from the city's Panchasayar area, police said on Friday.
"He is at the moment being presented in Alipore court. He was arrested yesterday (Thursday)," a police officer said.
Mohammed Akbar Ali was nabbed from Sahid Smriti Colony on Thursday after a complaint was lodged against him. He was practising as an MBBS doctor without holding any valid registration from the West Bengal Medical Council.
A number of fake doctors have been taken into custody by the West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department over the past one month. Over 500 more medical practitioners, reportedly having doubtful credentials, are under the scanner.
Some of the doctors arrested had been working for years in state-run hospitals and leading private health facilities.
