Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari on Sunday condoled the death of legendary painter S.H. Raza, and credited him with popularising Indian art globally.
"I am deeply grieved to hear about the demise of eminent painter S.H. Raza. He popularised Indian concepts and iconography globally and built a towering legacy of modern art. I join the nation in praying for eternal peace for the departed soul," Ansari said in his condolence message.
Raza, who is touted as one of Indian modern art's greatest painters, passed away on Saturday at the age of 94.
