Army Major L. Rambo Singh died while performing operational duties in the Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir, the Army said on Friday.

The officer was leading a convoy of vehicles carrying operational stores from Tangtse to Karu in extremely inhospitable terrain when he died on Thursday.

"Major L. Rambo Singh laid down his life while performing operational duties in the extremely harsh climate and rough mountainous terrain of eastern Ladakh," Defence Ministry spokesman Colonel Rajesh Kalia said.
