An army officer, Bakul Singh, working as an instructor died on Friday in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh when a detonator went off during a training session, police said.
"The incident took place when the jawans of Mahar Regiment in the local firing range were undergoing training for planting grenades this morning," Cantt Police Station In-charge D.N. Dwivedi told IANS.
As Bakul Singh was busy training the soldiers, a detonator burst accidentally killing the trainer on the spot, while a jawan received injuries, the police officer said.
The injured army man has been admitted in the army hospital for treatment.
Army officers were inquiring into how the detonator went off during training, army sources said.
