An army officer, heading a unit of the counter-insurgency Rashtriya Rifles in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district, was Saturday attacked by separatist guerrillas was escaped unhurt. No one was injured in the incident.
Police sources told IANS that the guerrillas fired at the vehicle of the Rashtriya Rifles battalion commander at Khushipora in Rafiabad area while he was going about on routine duties.
"Militants used automatic weapons and grenades to attack the vehicle of the commandant of the RR battalion stationed in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district.
"The militants' fire was returned by the guards of the commander. No RR personnel was injured in the attack. Militants are believed to escaped under the cover of darkness in the area," a senior police officer said here.
