A new chapter of transformation is being written in Arunachal Pradesh and it is on the path of rapid development, said Governor Brig (Dr) B.D. Mishra (Retd.) on Tuesday, as the state celebrated its 32nd Statehood Day.

Addressing a function here on the occasion, Mishra stressed that co-existence and good social order are pre-requisites for sustained economic growth, and called upon one and all to ensure transparency, accountability and probity in all dealings.

Chief Minister Pema Khandu, besides his Cabinet colleagues and senior government officials, also attended the function.

Sharing his observations about the health sector during his district tours, Mishra urged medical officers to serve in the interior areas. He also suggested to the people to practise Yoga and maintain cleanliness for good health.

Stating that no government can provide jobs to every person, the Governor emphasised on skill development, self-employment and entrepreneurship.

He advised the youth to avail of subsidised loans and other schemes provided by the government and start their own businesses. "Organic farming, orchid growing, floriculture, orange, bamboo, handloom and handicrafts offer great opportunities to our youth to flourish and prosper."

Voicing his concern and pain over the drug menace and gun culture in some parts of the state, Mishra urged political leaders, government officials, village chiefs, Panchayat members and common citizens to join hands to give society the right direction.

At the function, Mishra presented "Arunachal Ratna" award posthumously to Ashoka Chakra awardee Havildar Hangpan Dada. Chasen Lowang, wife of the late Havildar Dada, received the award.

He also presented State Gold Medals to 46 awardees, State Silver Medals to 51 awardees and the Chief Minister's Excellence Award in Civil Service to three officials.
