The 17th Asian Junior Athletics Championships will take place here on June 3-6, with the participation of 45 countries and regions, the Vietnam Athletics Federation said on Sunday.

The event, designated for athletes born in the 1997-2000 period to compete in 22 events for men and 22 events for women, will be held at Thong Nhat Stadium, reports Xinhua.

According to the Asian Athletics Association's regulation, the host country is allowed to register a maximum of three athletes for each event.

Vietnam hopes to win bronze medals at women's long jump and 100-meter running events, said the local federation.
