Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal incurred the highest expense during the assembly polls with Rs 25.26 lakh, 90 per cent of the expenditure limit set by the poll panel.
The expenditure limit for the candidates during the Assam Assembly elections was Rs 28 lakhs.
Bharatiya Janata Party legislator Sonowal won the elections from Majuli constituency of Assam, reserved for a Scheduled Tribe (ST) candidate.
The second highest expense incurred by a minister in the current state Government was by Atul Bora of Asom Gona Parishad, who won from the Bokakhat constituency.
Bora incurred an expense of Rs 22.44 lakhs, which was 8O per cent of the expense limit, followed by state Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who won the elections from Jalukbari constituency with an expense of Rs 22.09 Lakhs, 79 per cent of the expenditure limit.
The analysis was done by Assam Election Watch and Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR), after the legislators submitted their election expenditure for the poll.
Among the ministers, who incurred the lowest expenditure include Rihon Daimari of Bodoland Peoples Front (BPF) from Udalguri constituency and Parimal Suklabadya of BJP from Dholai (SC) constituency.
Both of them incurred an expense of Rs 10.75 lakhs, 38 per cent of the expense limit and Rs 11.25 lakhs, 40 per cent of the expense limit, respectively.
Pallab Lochan Das of BJP from Rangapara constituency, had incurred the third lowest expense with Rs 13.08 lakhs, which is 47 per cent of the expense limit.
