Atletico Madrid have signed a five-year contract with Villarreal's Spanish midfielder Rodrigo Hernandez, both La Liga sides said on Thursday.
Atletico Madrid reached an agreement with Villarreal months ago to sign Hernandez, reports EFE news agency.
"Our club has reached an agreement with Villarreal over the transfer of Rodri. The midfielder will be an Atletico player starting July 1 on a five-year-contract," Atletico Madrid said on their official website.
The 21-year-old Hernandez returns to Atletico Madrid, where he spent five years in the Rojiblancos youth academy, before joining Villarreal in 2013.
Since making his debut with Villarreal in 2015, Rodri has appeared 84 times in all competitions, scoring two goals.
