Australian woman cricketer Jess Cameron has been ruled out of the remainder of the series against Pakistan due to a fractured left hand.
Cameron sustained the fracture to her fifth metacarpal bone during a fielding incident in the third One-Day International (ODI) here Tuesday.
"Jess injured her left hand while fielding against Pakistan yesterday and was subsequently taken for an x-ray which revealed a fracture. Her progress will be monitored and it is expected that she will recommence skills training in approximately four weeks," team physiotherapist Kate Watson said Wednesday.
Speaking about her injury, Cameron said: "It's disappointing that I won't be able to see the series through. I felt like I was in good touch with the bat and any opportunity to represent my country is an honour. I wish the team the best of luck for the remaining matches and I look forward to our next international series against the West Indies in November."
Cameron will return to Melbourne to continue her treatment and rehabilitation following the fourth and final ODI here Thursday.
Cricket Australia's (CA) Women's National Selection Panel (WNSP) confirmed that Nicole Bolton will remain with the squad for the Twenty20 series against Pakistan, starting Aug 30.
