Australian top scorer Tim Cahill returned to his country to play in the A-League for Melbourne City, the club announced on Thursday.
Cahill, 36, left Chinese Super League (CSL) side Hangzhou Greentown last month, reports Xinhua.
"I am incredibly excited to have signed with Melbourne City and ultimately the City Football Group. There is real ambition and purpose here, qualities that are immensely important to me," Cahill said in a statement.
Cahill moved to China and signed with Shanghai Shenhua last year and left the club in February, 2016 for Hangzhou Greentown where he played for six months.
