Swiss head coach Marcel Koller has renewed his contract with Austria until the end of 2017, the Austrian Football Association, OFB announced on Tuesday.
OFB reached an agreement with Koller to renew the contract automatically if Austria qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, reports Efe.
The Swiss coach has been in charge of Austria since late 2011, when the team was ranked 70th in the FIFA world rankings, while they are currently in 10th place.
Under the command of Koller, the Austrian national team managed to qualify as group leaders for the Euro Championship 2016 in France, after winning nine out of ten matches and beating strong teams like Russia and Sweden.
The Euro 2016 will be the first major competition for Austria since the team qualified for the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France.
