Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal Sunday cancelled all his scheduled engagements and meetings due to illness, a spokesman of the chief minister's office said here.
Badal, 86, the oldest serving chief minister in the country, is down with viral fever, his doctors said.
The doctors have advised him complete rest and told him to avoid travelling.
Badal cancelled his three-day 'Sangat Darshan' programme in Gidderbaha assembly segment of Muktsar district from July 15 to 17.
The chief minister, despite his age, has been quite active with his official routine. He even visited Dehradun last week and met his Uttarakhand counterpart Vijay Bahuguna in the aftermath of the natural calamity in the hill state that left hundreds of people dead and a trail of massive devastation.
