Some 9,000 runners, including foreign athletes, will compete in the Bali Marathon on the Indonesian resort island on Sunday, an event sponsor said here on Friday.
The runners are from America, Europe, Australia, Kenya, Ethiopia and Asian nations, said Taswin Zakaria, president director of Maybank Indonesia, reports Xinhua news agency.
"Maybank Indonesia expresses a gratitude to all sponsors and other parties supporting this event," said Zakaria.
A total 2,500 athletes will compete in full marathon of 42,195 kms, 3,500 in half marathon of 21,098 kms and the rest for a 10-km race for a total prize money of more than two billion rupiah (some $149,000), the sponsor said.
